History: 

Established in 1995 by Luc Van Giap and Robert Prutton, Global Productions/globalhire.com has gone from strength to strength ever since. Prior to this, in the late 1980's and early 1990’s both were part-time DJ’s playing soul, hip-hop, and house music. 
In 1995, after several years of being asked to also provide the sound systems for large dance parties throughout England they decided to concentrate full-time on the business and invested heavily in the necessary equipment. 
The aim was to offer a professional service, to lead the way over and above the existing hire firms who were mostly either ageing rock sound crews or tacky mobile roadshow outfits, both generally offering sub standard equipment and service. 

By 1998 other ancillary equipment like rope barriers and staging came onboard and the reputation grew and grew.  Since then the equipment stocked has grown ten-fold but never lost sight of the companies core business – sound & lighting hire

The quality of service provided is best highlighted by the fact that from this time right up to the present day one of our biggest clients ‘Old English Inns & Hotels’  (now part of Greene King PLC) have retained and relied upon our service on a weekly basis for over fourteen years.

Technology in the entertainment industry is constantly changing and this is reflected by our constant renewal of stock with the latest equipment.  The biggest change in recent years being the impact of Digital technology in both the control/operation of lighting fixtures as well as all areas of music playback (MP3, signal processing and system management to name but three digital advancements).  Increasingly our lighting dept now stocks LED based effects, something unheard of just few years ago.

The Internet has proved to be one of the biggest successes of recent years.  Spring 2002 saw the installation of a new high speed broadband internet enabled LAN (Local Area Network) along with new computer systems. Online business levels are now far outstripping those created by traditional print media since the launch of our web site in April 2000.

Notwithstanding, we are still proud to be able to say that almost 80% of our business comes from repeat bookings and personal recommendations.

One of the most radical points in our history came in December 2003 when, after 9 years of trading as Global Productions Sound & Lighting Hire (often shortened to "globalhire") the trading name was changed to simply globalhire.com reflecting the importance of our online presence, and making it much simpler to answer the phone!

Summer 2004 saw our move to a new 1170 sqft warehouse building at Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 1EF.  These larger premises also allow us room for increased workshop/maintenance space.

Business administration and operations is still headed by Luc Van Giap whilst Robert Prutton branched out in 1999 to form RNP Entertainment.  However he still plies his trade as one of the most popular professional DJ's we can supply.

Today we service the needs of several hundred customers by providing sound, lighting and conference equipment rentals. Our rostra of DJ’s has grown with the company to incorporate almost all types of popular music from the last six decades right up-to cutting edge dance music.

And yet, still there at the heart of the company is the basic mission of providing entertainment through sound, through light, through music, to create exactly the right atmosphere, right on cue.
